Languages

The Department of Languages is an integral part of the College. The Department comprised of English, Kannada, Hindi and Sanskrit, and was studied in the first year only. Over a period of time with the introduction of various systems of study- Semester, CBCS and now NEP, languages are now studied for two years.

The prose and poetry pieces chosen for the study enhance an understanding of life through literature, besides it tries to ensure a higher level language use that goes beyond mere expression and tries to take the students into the realms of imagination and experiences.

The Department through various activities puts in efforts to sharpen the LSRW skills. One of the main aims of the Department is to train students to achieve an acceptable level of English speaking skills.

The Department is equipped with a Language lab, a means and mode of enabling students to acquire skills needed beyond the classroom.

 The Language Forum organises various competitions like Short Story Writing Contest, Book Talk, Essay Writing, Debates and Elocutions and various talks by literary figures to hone their skills, build confidence and provide platform to exhibit their talents. The Department celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava  and Mathru Bhasa Divas every year without fail
